Dr John Cain

Specialising in neuroradiology and PET-CT 

Dr John Cain is a graduate of the University of Manchester Medical School, UK and completed his specialty radiology training in North West England. During his radiology training, he earned a PhD in cerebral perfusion imaging at the University of Manchester in 2011. Dr Cain then pursued subspecialty training in both radionuclide radiology (Nuclear Medicine/PET-CT) and diagnostic neuroradiology including training at The Christie hospital. He furthered his expertise with a fellowship in Neuroradiology in Perth, Western Australia, at the Neurological Intervention and Imaging Service of WA, working at Sir Charles Gairdner and Royal Perth Hospitals. In 2017, Dr Cain was appointed consultant neuroradiologist and radionuclide radiologist at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in the UK, where he developed specialist interests in neuro-oncology, neurodegenerative diseases, paediatric neuroimaging, and neuro PET imaging. From 2019 to 2024, he served as the clinical lead for Nuclear Medicine. He has worked for Allevia Radiology since January 2025. He consults remotely for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, Dr Cain continues to serve as the radiology lead for their paediatric neuroradiology and cognitive (dementia) meetings and contributes to neuro-oncology multi-disciplinary team meetings.
